Bass Pro and Home

Today was our last day on the road and we decided that a good stop would be the newest and largest Bass Pro in the U.S. in Memphis at the Pyramid. This place was huge. It was like a small town within a town. It's layout and a variety of offerings was amazing. There was even a bowling alley. We had lunch there and the food was good and reasonably priced. We started out home on old Highway 67 thinking it would be more of a scenery change. Wrong! At Brinkley we jumped back on the interstate and the rest is history. It was almost like an obstacle course trying to miss the big rigs. This was a fun trip. We added a lot more memories and funny experiences to our motorcycle adventures. Our friendship is unique both on and off the road. I have heard it said that if you have one true friend you are lucky, if you have two you are blessed! I believe that is true.

Three Harley Davidson stores today

Yup, messed up today! So, you'll have to use your imagination on this. This looks like Richard drinking coffee after cleaning his bike this afternoon. But it is REALLY, Boswell HD in Cookeville, Tn, and Boswell HD in Nashville and Cool Springs HD in Franklin, Tn where Ryan works. Another great day today, beautiful weather, curvy roads and always amazing rides. Gms

Summary for May 4, 2015

The day started with a good breakfast, plenty of sunshine, and a cool morning. Our first stop was the Devils triangle. This was an area that we had learned about the day after welded the Dragon. This was about 40 to 50 miles of steep crooked roads through the smoky mountains of Tennessee. I do believe that these curves and this ride would rival the Tail of the Dragon. This ride was about three times as long and the curves were much sharper and more numerous.when we finished this tour about 11:30 we decided that we would take the old highway from our present position to Nashville. Highway 62 proved to be a good choice. It took us through the serene and quiet country side of rural Tennessee. Once in Nashville and after a quick lunch we went to the Lane Automobile Museum. This was a museum that Phillip had read about and wanted to see. It was a museum of totally foreign produced automobiles from the turn of the century to the early 90's. This was a fun place and very interesting. We really enjoy the museums.ROM

Tail of the Dragon

The afternoon of the third day was spent riding the Tail of the Dragon. This stretch of highway 129 at the border of Tennessee and North Carolina consist of 11 1/2 miles of highway and 318 curves. It is on the bucket list of most diehard riders. You have to be very attentive and the curves are continuous. The back and forth motion almost rocks you to sleep. There are riders on every type of vehicle imaginable. Most every motorcycle is represented. The vistas are excellent. He included in this post our pictures from the top of the Dragon.ROM

Morning at the Museum

We started day three of our adventure with a visit to the Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley TN. Of the museums that we have visited these past several years this had to rank among the best. This was a transportation museum and had everything from motorcycles, to bicycles, to automobiles and air planes etc. The owner and curator lives on site and spent a great deal of time with us telling us his story. If you're ever over this way to Maggie Valley Tennessee or anywhere close this is a great place to visit. The pictures I have posted only tell part of the story. The dog belongs to the owner and he sitting in a 1937 custom-made Lincoln.ROM

Country Side in East Tennessee

We spent the night of May 1 in Huntsville Alabama at our favorite B&B the Holiday Inn Express. The early morning found us on our way to east Tennessee and our destination "The Tail of the Dragon." It was a perfect day. Fun, food, fellowship and a long bike ride. The scenery is also another plus in this journey. Tennessee is a beautiful state. It has such diversity in its landscape. Our ride along the Ocoee river was one of the highlights of the ride today. This is one of the nations most popular white water rivers.there were white water rafts and kayaks everywhere.ROM
