Morning Mountain Cruise

Almost immediately after leaving Missoula Montana we ascended to about 5000 feet and then began our descent to what would be about 500 feet sea level. The route of Highway 12 follows the Lochsa River through the Clearwater mountains almost all the way to Lowell MT where it turns into a Clearwater River. The views were spectacular as are all of the places that we have seen in our country. I am still amazed at our great nation. The skies were laced with smoke from the fires in the area when we left this morning but got thicker as we traveled down Highway 12. At Lowell the visibility was very limited. It is difficult to see the devastation and to hear about the loss is that families have endured. It is promising though to know that both the people and the land will heal.ROM
