Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Park.

It is hard to imagine the amount of force that was released when Mount Saint Helens erected in 1980. The land will recover and recovery has begun but it will take decades for it to restore itself. There are many areas that were so destroyed that they will never be restored.I have included but a few pictures of what is left of the mountain and the immediate area surrounding it. It was getting late and we had to leave because the sun was setting and we needed to begin our journey home. you cannot imagine how treacherous

these mountain roads are in the daytime and especially at night. As we left the night grew quicker upon us. We discovered as we reached a point that the road that we were going to take no longer exist.we had to find an alternative route and this would take us about 70 or 80 miles out of our way. We came to a fork in the road and chose a direction which proved to be treacherous. It was dark and the road was crooked and had sections where geological shifts created an unevenness in the road surface. With all of this said it was well after 10:30 at night. None of us like  to ride in the dark especially  on a narrow crooked  road because you never know what you're going to step out of the woods. Just another adventure.ROM
