Greenfield Village

This is a picture of the Josephine Ford Memorial which is at the entrance to Greenfield Village. Greenfield Village was started as a part of the Henry Ford effort to preserve history for future generations. Since 1929 the Henry Ford foundation has been involved in buying buildings that represent Henry Fords desire to save objects that have historical significance and that represent the Industrial Revolution. The village buildings and furnishings represent periods of time from the 1700s to present. The buildings were all moved from their original location to what has become a complete turn of the century Village. It has many buildings that are decorated and furnished in the early American tradition and all represent the architectural style of different segments of the country. There are displays of shops and trades that were run by individuals that were necessary for a community to be self sustaining. Every generation should have an opportunity to visit the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. It is a great place to take the grandchildren but would be enjoyed by parents and grandparents. ROM
