The Grand Hotel

This is the largest hotel on the island and overlooks lake Huron. It was built in 1875 and has stayed in operation since that time. As you look at it you marvel at the craftsmanship but also at the time and effort it must've taken to get the material from the mainland to the island itself and then to carry it at the island to the location of the hotel. It has to be one of the great historic hotels in America. Even though it was shrouded in fog when this picture was taken you can still get some idea of the massive structure that it is. ROM
